A. let sleeping dogs lie 不要沒事惹事/別自找麻煩
字面是「讓在睡覺的狗兒躺著」,就是別吵醒牠之意。
引申為「不要沒事惹事」或「別自找麻煩」。
例:The boss likes him, so you'd better let sleeping dogs lie.
(老闆喜歡他,所以你最好不要沒事惹事。)

B. the top dog 居於高位的人/優勝者
例:He has wanted to be the top dog ever since he entered the company.
(他自進公司以來,就想當上一哥。)

C. dog-eat-dog 競爭激烈的
例:The toilet market is dog-eat-dog, so all the salesmen have to work very hard.
(馬桶市場競爭激烈,因此所有的業務員都必須賣命。)

D. can't teach an old dog new tricks 老狗學不了新把戲/積習難改
例:I will defeat him sooner or later because you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
(我遲早會打敗他的,因為他早就變不出什麼新把戲了。)

E. every dog has its day 總會有好運
字面上意思是「每隻狗都有牠的一天」,表示不管多差勁的人,都有他走運的一天。
例:I guess every dog has its day! I will win for sure next month!
(我想他剛好走運吧!我下個月一定會贏的!)
