(P.S.藉本篇文章談文法正確又要合情合理地選用句子)

一般城市的街道，給人的印象都是"地面乾是正常的，會溼就是下過雨"。
如果我走在街頭，下了一陣棉棉細雨，接著雨過天情，我可以說：

The rain was followed by sun, and soon the streets were dry again.


不過今天我若是走在一年到頭都在下雨的都市，不用別的，
台北市就給了我這個印象。

那我撐著傘走進騎樓，邊逛街欣賞櫥窗內展示品
邊悠哉地等雨停，好不容易雨停之後去露天咖啡座，
結果沒幾下子又下起雨壞了興致，這時我可以說：
The sun was followed by rain, and soon the streets were wet again.

這裡說wet again，又溼了，就是說
這城市的街道平常就是溼溼冷冷的，好不容易放晴，卻又下了雨
，街上又變得溼冷，跟平常一樣，這"又變得...跟平常一樣"
就是這裡again所要強調的。


因此這兩句
1.The rain was followed by sun, and soon the streets were dry again.
2.The sun was followed by rain, and soon the streets were wet again.

在文法上都是正確的(意即合(文)法)，只是在會話中使用時要考慮該城市
平常日子是很潮溼或乾燥，就能用得"合情合理"。
