說話囉唆冗長，英文稱為long-winded(長風)；

windbag (風袋)就是囉唆的人，例如：

Now that you’ve become the new TV weather girl,

you’ve become such a windbag.

(你已成為新任天氣報告女郎，也開始變得囉哩吧唆的)。

但囉嗦的人說對了，也擲得稱讚：

You’ve gotten right. (你說對了)

Gotten 是get的完成式(perfect tense)。英式英文除了ill-gotten

(以不正當手段獲得的)一詞，不用gotten 這說法而用got；

美式英文則一律用gotten，只有解作「必須」和「有」的have/had got例外，

例如：

(1) I’ve got to go now. (我現在要去了)。

(2) I’ve got a dog. (我有一隻狗)。

(3) I’ve gotten a dog. (我獲得一隻狗)。

(4) I’ve gotten used to it. (我習慣了)。

第一、二句的got字，在文法上都可以略去；

第三、四句的gotten，英式英文會改為got。

留意第一段now that這個說法。

Now that是個連接詞(conjunction)，兼有「由於」和「現在」的含義，所

帶出的子句(clause)可以解釋另一子句描述的事，that字往往略去，例如：

(1) Now (that) he is here, you had better ask him yourself.

(現在他既然在這裡，你最好親自問他)。

(2) Job security is my prime consideration now (that) I have gotten married.

(現在我結婚了，最重要的自然是工作穩定)。

That字本身有時也表「因為」的意思，例如：

I would not do it – not that I am afraid, mind you.

(我不會那樣做－告訴你，這可不是因為我害怕)。
